matt or frozen paint cars are a deliberate purchase and are also usually more expensive than standard paint. they look stunning and menacing but they also very specialised cleaning. matt black cars can not be waxed, indeed no silicone/wax product should really be used on any matt/frozen painted car. this means you need to be very careful when cleaning your paintwork and you need specialists to do this. we realise how hard it can be to get a showroom standard valet on matt black cars, where there is a need to clean the car to a high standard, whilst also doing so safely. that is not always possible with other companies. our specially designed matt black/frozen paint service is uniquely developed to valet any car make and model with this type of paint and is carried out by our autoglym trained valeters. normal polish, wax, sealant and clay can't be used on matt black or frozen paintwork unless it is specifically designed.

the technical part...

with matt/frozen paintwork you have chosen a paintwork where the matt appearance lends an especially precious rare metallic lustre to your vehicle. in comparison to conventional exterior colours with a gloss/metallic surface, the sculpture like character of the matt surfaces highlights the contours of your car.

cleaning and care is more difficult with a matt black/frozen finish. in order to avoid varnish damage, you can not use automatic car washes as they can adversely affect the paint finish. this can occur in a number of ways including scratches caused by sand, dust or other micro particles which deposit in the car's body surface.

you cannot use varnish cleaners or wax protection. these products are suitable exclusively for highly shiny surfaces. their use on vehicles with matt paintwork will lead to serious damage of the surface (i.e. glossy, dappled spots). the vehicle cannot be polished, as this can lead to glossiness and damage only specialist body repairs can handle.

what we do...

our service includes careful preparation of the bodywork initially using a pressure washer, removing insect leftovers, bird excrement, resins, tar spots, fuel pollution and oils. we use soft clean and new pre-treated sponges for the washing process, having already removed from the surface contaminates and therefore avoid strong grating and rubbing.

our matt black/frozen paint exterior valet covers just the outside, with areas such as the outside of the vehicle, including all shuts.

the service takes one person between 2 and 4 hours to finish. the full specification is set out below. our optional extras are explained here but the autoglym hood clean and protection is the most popular option on this service.

• the bodywork is extensively rinsed down using water to remove dust, mild surface contaminants, particles and surface dirt.
• the wheels are cleaned using an autoglym safe wheel cleaner, using separate bucket and sponges.
• the entire bodywork is then lathered with an autoglym ph neutral and surface safe wash wax, with separate bucket and sponges.
• the bodywork is then throughly high pressure rinsed down, including the arches, wheels and all door shuts.
• all the bodywork is then leathered off using separate leathers for bodywork and the rest of the car.
• all exterior glass and mirrors are polished.
